The pace of completion of the Lahore Metrobus project, a Rs30 billion venture that created much hype and stir among the masses, is commendable. In a period of almost eleven months, it reached completion winning wide-scale appreciation. A Malaysian business delegation, in a meeting with Minister for Labor Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, has expressed its desire to recruit thousands of skilled Pakistani workers for a huge mass rapid transit project back home.
This is good news as the Pakistani government finally seems to be responding to increasing global demand for skilled and semi-skilled workers. At a time when the economy is dwindling and foreign exchange reserves are thinning out, realizing opportunities and tapping into job markets of developed economies of the far-east is a step in the right direction.
