The Supreme Court ordered on Tuesday the immediate construction of the Nai Gaj Dam in Sindh.
The court has ordered the federal and Sindh government to release the funds on time.
Justice Gulzar Ahmed said that the provincial government doesn’t want development in Sindh. “What is wrong with the Sindh government? People put the burden of development work on other people,” he remarked.
The project for the dam construction has been put on hold since the last 30 years, the judge said.
Attorney general told the court that the federal government is ready to release funds but the provincial government has yet to show its interest in the project.
The court ordered Wapda to provide funds for the dam. It summoned a report from the planning division and Sindh irrigation secretary on the provision of funds.
The case will be heard again after a month.
